Wolves?
The Wolves of Kromer is a 'gay fairytale' depicting gay men as wolves. Seth is newly 'out' as a wolf, and also newly dead - shot in what would be the equivalent of a hate crime.
Though wolf is an allegory here, Seth has some genuine wolfy traits. He has a tail, and pointed ears which are usually hidden under his hair. He howls, growls (not very successfully) and has slightly heightened senses. His parents, however, are both human and Seth is mostly human in his genetic makeup. Wolves are people, too.
